our team of seasoned experts

Beyond the Baobab is not an agency. It is a husband and wife team who both fell deeply in love with Botswana's wilderness and made a decision to share that passion with the world.

Every safari we design is one we have personally experienced, drawn from first-hand knowledge, deep local relationships, and an intimate understanding of this extraordinary part of the world built over decades.

We do not design safaris from behind a desk. We design them from experience, with the same care and intention we would give our own.

KRISTY BRISCOE (Co-Founder)

“I traded the courtroom for the Delta and I have never looked back”.

Before Beyond the Baobab, I was a litigation attorney with degrees in Commerce and Law. I had lived across Southern Africa — Namibia, South Africa — and while I had been on safaris in both countries, it had never truly moved me. Then my husband took me to the Okavango Delta for the first time, and it lit something up within me. I couldn't believe that this extraordinary, wild, humbling place was now on my doorstep. Within two years, I had left the corporate world behind and taken a leap of faith into travel, the one thing I had found that I felt deeply passionate about.

That passion shows up in everything I do. I work with discerning travellers from across Europe, America, and beyond, designing itineraries that are deeply personal, meticulously planned, and built around what genuinely moves people, not what is trending.

I design every safari the way I would want my own trip to be, immersive and full of the kind of moments you spend years trying to describe to people who weren't there.

When I plan your safari, I bring all of this with me: the first-hand experience, the relationships with the best camps and guides in the business, and the genuine belief that Botswana has the power to move you. My job is simply to make sure it gets the chance to.

JAMES BRISCOE (Co-Founder)

"Botswana has always been world class. I am just making sure the world knows it."

I was born and raised in Botswana, and I have spent my whole life watching the rest of the world fall in love with a place I have always simply called home.

Growing up here gives you a different relationship with the bush. It is not a destination you save up for or tick off a list. It is just there, vast and alive and humbling, and it never loses its ability to stop you in your tracks. No matter how many times I have sat beside the Okavango or watched an elephant move silently through the treeline at dusk, it still gets me. I think it always will.

My professional life has been built around a single belief: that Botswana deserves world-class experiences. Over the past decade I have founded three of Gaborone's most celebrated venues, The Daily Grind, a breakfast and lunch café; Two Six Seven, a 200-seater bar and restaurant named after our country's dialling code; and Cin Cin, a wine and tapas bar that Kristy and I designed together. Each one was born from the same conviction that great hospitality, great food, and great design belong here just as much as anywhere in the world.

That conviction recently led me to what I consider my most meaningful venture yet. Together with two partners, I co-founded Sediba Sa Rona, the first 100% citizen-owned lodge in the Okavango Delta. Sitting on the Khwai River in one of the most breathtaking settings I know, it is a project that fills me with enormous pride, not just as a businessman, but as a Botswana citizen.

I have been fortunate to travel extensively, and those experiences have shaped the way I think about hospitality. But it is equally important to me that success is never just personal. Some of my staff have been with me for over ten years, and watching them grow, take ownership, and thrive is something I value as much as anything I have built.

At Beyond the Baobab, I bring all of this together. A deep love for this country, an instinct for exceptional experiences, and the relationships and knowledge that only come from a lifetime spent here.

Every journey begins with a conversation. If you are ready to start planning your safari, or simply want to find out more about what we do, we would love to hear from you

We work alongside some of Southern Africa's most respected and celebrated operators, handpicked for their excellence, their values, and their commitment to delivering extraordinary experiences.
